Cabodevila Viewpoint

Discover the Cabodevila viewpoint: a natural balcony over the Miño

Just a 15-minute drive from PortoHome in Portomarín, the Cabodevila viewpoint, also known as Penedo do Bico, is one of the most captivating lookout points in the Ribeira Sacra. From here, a stunning view opens up of the river Miño winding between the hills, an unforgettable sight.

A viewpoint full of history and nature

Located in the parish of San Martiño de Castro, in the municipality of Paradela, the viewpoint offers a privileged view of several places of interest:

  • Portomarín: the town that was moved in the 1960s when the Belesar reservoir was built.
  • Belesar reservoir: its waters cover old settlements, which can be seen in times of drought.
  • The old village of Ferreiroá: its remains emerge when the reservoir level drops, a reminder of the region's submerged history.
  • Castro de la Virgen (Suvirxe): an archaeological site that adds historical value to the area.

From here you can also see the old Loio bridge and the monumental complex of San Facundo de Ribas de Miño, just 3.4 km away.
