If you are staying in Portomarín with PortoHome and are looking for a hike that combines spectacular scenery, history and peace and quiet, the Camiño Vello de Aldosende is an ideal choice.
This linear route of about 12.5 km, of low to medium difficulty, runs between the Cabodevila viewpoint and the village of Aldosende, in the municipality of Paradela. The trail follows old paths, once used by monks and villagers, that linked Santiago de Aldosende with Portomarín.
It was restored after the Belesar reservoir was built in the 1960s, and offers stunning views of the river Miño and its surroundings.
What will you find along the way?
Mirador da Volta do Castelo: views of the Cabanouzo meander and the gorge of the river Trapa.
Cabodevila viewpoint: a panoramic view of the Miño meander and the town of Portomarín.
Chapel of Santa Marta: built by monks in gratitude for the blessings they received, under an oak tree.
Monastery of San Facundo de Ribas de Miño: founded in 1120 and considered the first example of Gothic architecture in Spain.

The route has recently been improved, with better signposting and information boards, thanks to Paradela Town Council and the Galician Tourism Agency.
To get back to the starting point, you can call a local taxi from Aldosende. Enjoy this unique experience combining nature, history and culture in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra.
For PortoHome guests, this route is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the cultural and natural riches of the Ribeira Sacra.
Get your hiking boots ready and let yourself be won over by the landscapes and history of the Camiño Vello de Aldosende.
